Background & Job Description

UNDP works in nearly 170 countries to support crisis resilience, sustainable development, and the achievement of the SDGs. The Research Analyst will be based at the UNDP Istanbul Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD), supporting its Crisis and Resilience portfolio. The role will involve research, technical assistance, and knowledge management on issues such as preventing violent extremism, migration, and economic integration.


Tasks

  • Conduct research on preventing violent extremism and socioeconomic resilience
  • Design frameworks, data tools, and questionnaires for research activities
  • Carry out value chain analysis to support women’s and youth economic empowerment
  • Provide research on migration, skills assessments, and labor market integration
  • Draft reports, toolkits, and policy briefs for the Crisis and Resilience portfolio
  • Coordinate with UNDP country offices and stakeholders to align project activities

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Master’s degree in International Security, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, or related field
  • OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant research experience

Experience

  • For Master’s degree holders: no experience required
  • For Bachelor’s degree holders: at least 2 years of experience in socio-economic research in crisis contexts
  • Experience with migration, displacement, and value chain analysis is highly desirable
  • Prior work with international organizations, especially the UN, is an asset
